2. Beat Florida

This is one of the toss-up games, and to be fair, that means the real goal for Tennessee football is to go 3-2 in the toss-up games. However, come on. The Vols have to beat the Florida Gators at some point, right? If they can’t beat them this year, they will never beat them again. There are just too many things in their favor.

UT played Florida early last year, as they always do, before the offense truly got going with Hendon Hooker. If they played in November, the Vols would have won. Florida finished the year 6-7 and is undergoing a coaching change. Meanwhile, they have to travel to Knoxville to face them.

Yes, the Vols have failed to beat a first-year Florida head coach since Steve Spurrier in 1990. Still, the circumstances are different this year. Billy Napier may be a good coach, but he’s dealing with a ton of questions, and they are changing their system on both sides of the ball.

Sure, there was the 2016 win, but outside of that, Rocky Top seems to be cursed against the Gators. Everything was in place for them to win in 2014, 2015 and 2017 too, but they couldn’t do it. If those issues arise again this year, then the Vols might as well quit as a program because they will never beat Florida again.
