Gambling odds

  • Line: Alabama -41
  • Over/Under: 62.5
  • Moneyline: N/A

After last year’s national championship loss, the Alabama Crimson Tide may be back on a mission. They once again lose key receivers, but they return Heisman Trophy quarterback Bryce Young and a loaded defense. Nick Saban also just pulled a huge contract too, so he’s on a mission for another national title…or three of them.

There’s a reason Alabama should still be written off as a loss for Tennessee football. We may be looking at one of the best teams Saban has ever coached, and that’s insane to think about. However, that’s how much talent the Tide have coming back, and if their run game improves, they’ll be invincible this year.

The Utah State Aggies seemed like a great test for them entering Blake Anderson’s second season as defending Mountain West Conference champions, but now there’s a bit of a question. They shouldn’t have struggled to put away the UConn Huskies last week, as they fell behind 14-0 in the game and were only up a touchdown in the fourth before winning 31-20.

Prediction

Yes, Utah State’s struggle with UConn should be a bit disturbing. It’s enough to say Alabama, despite that huge line, will actually cover. Ironically, one of Tennessee football’s non-Saturday openers, which they have this year, came against Utah State in 2014. They won 38-7. The Tide will dominate even more. They’ll cover, and Utah State will barely score, so the game hits the under.

Alabama: 55 Utah State: 3 (Alabama -41; Under 62.5)
