One of the most controversial games of the year in 2021 is now set for a rematch. Tennessee football is finally in the process of supplanting the Memphis Tigers as the best team in the state once again, and it was embarrassing that they were ever behind them. They open the season against the coach Tennessee football almost hired.

After going 7-6 in his second season with the Mississippi State Bulldogs, With Will Rogers back to fling the ball around and the interior of the offensive line back, MSU’s offense should take the next step in Leach’s air raid system. Memphis is a great test for them as they attempt to get revenge after being cheated in last year’s game.

Entering its third year under Ryan Silverfield, Memphis still hasn’t been able to replicate the success from the Mike Norvell and Justin Fuente eras. However, with Seth Henigan back, a couple of transfer playmakers added and lots of experience in the secondary, it should be able to improve from its 6-6 campaign.

Prediction

Memphis is a dark-horse in the American Athletic Conference once again, but it won’t show in this game. Starkville will be rocking, and Leach is too good with time to prepare. As a result, the Bulldogs will win and cover, but expect your classic Leach-style shootout, so this game hits the over in the end.
