From Brian Kelly’s old school to Brian Kelly’s new school. He’s got a dynasty brewing at LSU. The only question is how long it will take to get going. That’s what gives programs trying to be on the rise with returning head coaches like the Florida State Seminoles hope. Tennessee football is in that camp as well.

LSU gets to play what is effectively a home game to open up the season by facing FSU in New Orleans. They won’t be starting Myles Brennan at quarterback, and by entering a new era, there are tons of questions as to just what the offense will look like. It’s hard to say right now.

FSU, meanwhile, has Mike Norvell on the clock. He is coming off a 5-7 season, and this is his last chance to deliver for the program. Honestly, beating a rebuilding team like LSU could be considered a must if he wants to prove what he’s doing in the Florida Panhandle is working.

Prediction

This is by far the toughest prediction to make. The only thing we can say is that the change in offensive systems will work against LSU this early in the season against such a solid team. As a result, despite playing in Louisiana, they’ll make too many mistakes.

It’ll be an ugly game, and quite honestly, FSU will be celebrating this win too much, but LSU will give it away. In the process, they’ll become a fringe top 25 team. This is the same type of hope Tennessee football has against LSU in Kelly’s first year. Take FSU to pull off the upset outright, but take the under as well.

Florida State: 24 LSU: 13 (Florida State +3; Under 51.5)
