Sam Houston Bearkats at Texas A&M Aggies

Saturday, Sept. 3 | Noon ET | SEC Network | Kyle Field; College Station, Texas

Gambling odds

  • Line: Texas A&M -30
  • Over/Under: 52.5
  • Moneyline: N/A

Finally, we get to Saturday’s slate of games, but it’s one that isn’t anything special. The Texas A&M Aggies had what you could call a bittersweet season last year. They beat the Alabama Crimson Tide, as Jimbo Fisher became the first Nick Saban assistant to beat Saban, followed by Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs later in the same year.

However, A&M still just went 8-4 and then withdrew from the Gator Bowl due to a COVID outbreak, limiting the extra bowl practices they could have. That’s a dramatic underachievement from the expectations of competing for a national championship that they had at the beginning of the year.

Well, now they’re back hoping to do what they did last year. They start things off without a bad test either, as the Sam Houston Bearkats did win the WAC last year and are two years removed from winning the FCS national championship, so this is a good program.

Prediction

Obviously, Texas A&M is going to win running away. The line seems a bit low for a program looking to compete to get into the College Football Playoff, even if Sam Houston is solid. Take them to cover, as they’ll score somewhere in the 50s. Sam Houston has a loaded offense, though, so they notch a couple scores late too to help this hit the over.

Texas A&M: 52 Sam Houston: 17 (Texas has A&M -30; Over 52.5)
