Gambling odds

  • Line: Ole Miss -21.5
  • Over/Under: 57
  • Moneyline: Ole Miss -2500; Troy +1100

It’s time for Lane Kiffin to now move on from trolling Tennessee football and focus on the season. The Ole Miss Rebels enter this season ranked No. 21 in the AP Poll and No. 24 in the Coaches Poll. They are coming off a 10-3 season and finishing as the third-best team in the SEC behind the two teams who played for the national title.

The loss of Matt Corral is big, but honestly, most of their losses were on defense. If Tennessee football played them again this year, the offense would probably score enough to win that game in the fourth quarter. Landing USC Trojans transfer Jaxson Dart will keep the quarterback situation in good shape anyway.

On the other side, the Troy Trojans moved on from former offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey after a 5-7 season. They’ve brought in UAB Trojans tight ends coach Joe Craddock a weird hire, as he was part of the failed Chad Morris stint at Arkansas. However, maybe they see something we don’t. This game will be their chance to show that.

Prediction

Ole Miss’ offense will be fine. Troy will be awful across the board. Thanks to the Rebels’ scoring alone, this game will hit the over. Meanwhile, Kiffin being Kiffin, he will run up the score to put on a show for his fans. As a result, take the over and Ole Miss to cover.

Ole Miss: 59 Troy: 10 (Ole Miss -21.5; Over 57)
