4. Over/Under win total for Vols at 8.5 (+150/-170)

Regardless of which way you bet on this one, it’s tough for Tennessee football. Our game-by-game predictions for the Vols this year has them going 9-4, which would say bet the over. Also, with the way the odds are set, you get a better payout taking the over, so there are multiple reasons to do so here.

However, it’s just too risky of a proposition. The 9-4 record on our end comes with them winning their bowl game, and that’s always a 50-50 chance. Meanwhile, they are slightly under that win total for the regular season. Remember, this team has two circled losses and five toss-up games on the year.

As a result, 5-7 is on the table. Now, 10-2 is on there too, but the range between that is 7.5 for the regular season, not 8.5, so this could actually be a bit ambitious. Still, there’s no real good payout with the under, so you want to avoid taking that one altogether.

Simply put, the win totals for Rocky Top on this site are just too difficult. It’s not a good bet either way, as you want more sure things when there’s not a massive payout either way. As a result, if you’re thinking tactically, stay away from this one.
