Prop bet No. 2

Tennessee over/under: Over 51.5

Despite the first half over/under not getting hit, you can reliably bet that Tennessee football will go over 51.5 for the game. Ball State is the type of program Josh Heupel feasts upon with tons of quick scoring, and it’s likely they hit 28 in the first quarter. The only reason they don’t go over 39.5 in the first half is because of how they usually stall in the second quarter.

Still, when that happens, Alex Golesh and co. will regroup at halftime, as they did so often last year, and they’ll come out in the third quarter and dominate more. The third and fourth quarters won’t be like the first quarter, but they will be successful enough, so if the Vols score 35 in the first half, they’ll have 52 by midway through the fourth.

This is honestly the type of game where they drop 60 points, as they did last year against the South Alabama Jaguars and Missouri Tigers. Sure, they only went over 51.5 points three times last year, as the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles were another team they did it too.

However, after Hendon Hooker entered the lineup, Tennessee Tech was the only team with a defense that should struggle like Ball State’s. Sure, they’re loaded at linebacker and defensive back, but they don’t have the talent, and the Vols should torch them running inside.
