Defeated Cincinnati Bearcats 31-24

Okay, we are bending the rules a little bit here. The SEC Power Rankings are not supposed to take last year into account, and before the season gets going, we usually just separate quality of opponent by tiers, from Power Five to Group of Five to FCS. Well, the Cincinnati Bearcats get Power Five treatment right now because of last year.

Sorry, but it’s not serious to take this any other way. With that, the Arkansas Razorbacks have to be in the top three, as they are one of three teams to beat a foe we are labelling at Power Five tier right now. Sam Pittman’s team appears in line to be off to a red-hot start once again.

Honestly, while Cincinnati was never out of the game, it wasn’t like this was as close as a touchdown game either. Think Tennessee football’s national championship victory over Florida State. The Hogs controlled the whole game on that level, proving they are a good program.

Crazy enough, though, the early tests continue for Arkansas this week, as they have to host South Carolina. Then in two weeks, they visit the Texas A&M Aggies, and then they have to host the Alabama Crimson Tide, so this is a brutal slate to start the season. If they keep winning, they may even move up on this list.
