Pick Analysis. Offensive lineman. 3. 124. Scouting Report. Kansas City Chiefs. Trey Smith. player

2nd year in NFL

He wasn’t an undrafted free agent, but Trey Smith is one of the biggest steals in the pros in Tennessee football history. He fell to the sixth round of the NFL Draft in 2021, and while the horrendous 2020 season by the Vols played a role in that, the questions surrounding his health were the main reasons for him falling.

However, when in the game, Smith was durable and elite. He started every game in 2017, 2019 and 2020 and most of 2018, and in all three years he started, he earned All-SEC. Then, in his first year with Kansas City last year, Smith ended up starting every game at right guard.

All of a sudden, Smith is a star interior blocker for the Chiefs, and with Tyreek Hill gone, there are more expectations than ever on him to be able to get a push and generate a solid rushing attack. He could follow in the tradition of Eric Berry in KC and become a superstar.

The pressure is on Smith to carry the torch for Tennessee football offensive linemen in the pros. Ja’Wuan James is playing for the first time since 2019 after taking 2020 off and missing 2021 due to injury, and while Cade Mays was just drafted by the Carolina Panthers, he will likely need time to develop. As a result, Smith is the star at that position for UT in the pros.
