Tennessee vs Pitt Prediction and Promo
Tennessee -6.5 (-114) vs Pitt
The Panthers defeated Tennessee last September, 41-34, but the Volunteers find themselves 6.5-point favorites in Pittsburgh this time around. Losing Kenny Pickett to the NFL hurts Pitt, and I wasn’t overly impressed with the Panthers in their comeback win against West Virginia last week.
Cowardly coaching doomed West Virginia, as the Mountaineers honestly should have won that game. Pitt’s vaunted defense got gashed for 190 rushing yards, but a poor performance from JT Daniels and the coaching staff let the Panthers off the hook.
Hendon Hooker was magnificent against Ball State and should find similar success in a revenge game. Josh Heupel is no coward, so the Vols will be ready to take advantage of the opportunities Pitt hands them.
Tennessee covered the spread in five of its last six games as a favorite while the Panthers are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five matchups as an underdog. Expect both of those trends to continue as the Vols’ offense overwhelms Pitt.
