Tennessee football, SEC, top 25 picks and bets for Week 2 of 2022
For as great as Tennessee football looked to open the season, we might have looked even better here. If you listened to us on gambling picks, you certainly would have made bank. The numbers came with us missing on both the over/under and the line in the one week 0 matchup involving an SEC team. We were that good in Week 1. Here’s a look at it.
Week 0 and 1 performance: 15-1 outright, 22-10 on gambling picks
- Spread: 11-5
- Over/Under: 11-5
- Moneyline: 10-1; $181.93 profit if $100 bet on every game (+16.5%)
This week’s slate of games, though, makes it a lot tougher. Nine SEC teams, including the Vols, play Power Five opponents, and seven, including the Vols, play ranked foes. All 14 teams are playing, and there are two games featuring SEC teams playing each other. However, we also have a game between two top 25 teams to pick.
That leaves us with 13 games to pick. Can we get lucky with an unlucky number? Well, let’s find out. As usual, we’ll pick the games in the order that they are scheduled and close with Tennessee football’s matchup. Starting with the Vanderbilt Commodores, here are our Week 2 SEC and top 25 picks and bets.
These are our gambling predictions for the Tennessee football Volunteers, Southeastern Conference and top 25 Week 2 of 2022 games.
Gambling odds according to WynnBET
- Spread: Wake Forest -13
- Over/Under: 65
- Moneyline: Wake Forest -500; Vanderbilt +375
We kick things off with a matchup between an SEC team and a top 25 team. Vanderbilt seemed to be taking a huge step forward in Clark Lea’s second year after blowing out the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors to kick things off. However, a week later, they barely held off the Elon Phoenix.
This team’s offense is a threat, but the defense is a major issue. Meanwhile, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are up to No. 23 in the AP Poll and No. 21 in the Coaches Poll after beating the VMI Keydets 44-10. They seem to be getting a much bigger test traveling to Nashville to face a Power Five foe, but does Vandy really count yet as Power Five?
Prediction
Former Tennessee football offensive coordinator Dave Clawson will have a field day with this Vanderbilt defense. However, Vandy has a quarterback and is capable of scoring. As a result, the over is the best play here. In terms of the game itself, Vandy won’t stop Wake Forest all night, so they may hit the over themselves, and it’s why they’ll cover.
Wake Forest: 55 Vanderbilt: 35 (Wake Forest -13; Over 65)
