Gambling odds according to WynnBET

  • Spread: Mississippi State -10
  • Over/Under: 57.5
  • Moneyline: Mississippi State -380; Arizona +300

After two years of developing talent, Mike Leach’s air raid may be taking off this year. If not for Josh Heupel, Tennessee football fans would be even further lamenting the fact that Phillip Fulmer didn’t hire Leach when the Mississippi State Bulldogs go on a roll later this year.

If they are truly going to take off under Leach, though, with so much talent back, then they have to maintain their level of consistency. They got their revenge on the Memphis Tigers last week, winning 49-23, but now they have to do it against a Power Five school on the road, and that makes things a lot trickier.

The Arizona Wildcats appear to have taken a step forward under second-year head coach Jedd Fisch, as they looked pretty good in their 38-20 win over the San Diego State Aztecs. That’s not a win they would’ve enjoyed last year, when they went 1-11 on the season. Still, beating MSU would be so much bigger.

Prediction

Leach and Lisch are offensive guys, so with Mississippi State traveling out west, this looks like one of those Pac-12 style games where both teams hang 50. That may not happen, but the over is still the best call here. MSU on the spread is a little tough, but Leach appears to finally have the offense rolling, so it’s a good bet here. Take Mississippi State to cover and the over.

Mississippi State: 48 Arizona: 31 (Mississippi State -10; Over 57.5)
