A battle between two traditional powers looks one-sided early on. The Alabama Crimson Tide get their first test of the year after blowing out the Utah State Aggies 55-0 last week, and Nick Saban gets to face another former assistant. He’s also facing a program that will be heading into the SEC in three years, competing with Tennessee football for the real UT title.

After a 5-7 season in Steve Sarkisian’s first year at Texas, his program looks to be in much better shape already this year, as they blew out the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks 52-10 in the opener and are now No. 22 in the Coaches Poll. Quinn Ewers looks to be a solid starting quarterback, and this is a program with real momentum.

Meanwhile, Alabama, ranked No. 1 in both polls, remains a program on a mission after last year’s national championship loss. Not only are they a more complete team, Bryce Young appears to be a more complete player, as he has now developed a run game to truly become a dual-threat. That should scare the world.

Prediction

Sorry Texas. Alabama is completely zoned in for this one, and there’s no reason to believe that the Longhorns will have any answer for Young. As a result, the Tide will absolutely torch them in front of their home crowd in Austin. Alabama covering is the easiest pick here, as this game will be a blowout. The over/under is trickier, but Young’s play and late scoring by Texas hits the over.
