Well the Oregon Ducks let us down. We stupidly thought they could keep the Georgia Bulldogs from covering last week against their former defensive coordinator, and UGA absolutely obliterated them. By any reasonable metric, the Dawgs should be No. 1 in the nation after that blowout, but polls still think they have something to prove.

At this point, it’s insane to consider them a potential upset win for Tennessee football anymore. Ranked No. 2 in both polls, they get to follow up their win over Oregon with a home game against the Samford Bulldogs, and just how dominant can they be, particularly on defense, despite so many losses last year?

Samford is coming off a shocking 27-17 win over the Kennesaw State Owls, and they are now in the FCS top 25, right at No. 25, in Chris Hatcher’s eighth season. That’s opened up lots of possibilities for them at their level, but this is a fun week for them to try to do something insane at another level.

Prediction

Don’t take Georgia to cover. That’s the easiest call here. The Dawgs have never beaten an FCS team by more than 49 points in the Kirby Smart era, and Samford is the best FCS team they have ever faced under him. UGA will still dominate, though, but they’ll call off the dogs early, and that’ll keep them from covering and the game from hitting the over.
