Tennessee football: Photo gallery from Vols’ 34-27 OT win at Pitt
It’s not everyday Tennessee football travels to the north and beats a ranked team on the road. In fact, the Vols haven’t done that since beating Syracuse 34-33 to open their 1998 national championship season. Well, they did it again, beating the Pittsburgh Panthers, who were ranked No. 17 in the AP Poll and No. 14 in the Coaches Poll, 34-27 in overtime.
This was a wild game that had a lot of ugly mistakes on both sides, but at the end of the day, Tennessee football came out with a win, and they shouldn’t feel upset about beating Pitt in their place. Heck, the Alabama Crimson Tide just struggled to put away the Texas Longhorns on the same day.
The win produced a lot of memorable moments, and for Vol fans who made the trip into hostile territory, it was probably even sweeter. However, even if you didn’t, there are plenty of visuals frozen in time to look back on. Let’s do that here. This is a photo gallery from Tennessee football’s win at Pitt.
Josh Heupel now has UT riding at its highest point since 2016, when the Vols beat another ranked team on the road, the Georgia Bulldogs, off a hail mary to get to 5-0 on the season. Of course, they flamed out after that one, as the Butch Jones era unraveled, but it still felt great to be a Tennessee football fan at the time.
Although they aren’t quite in the position they should have been in after that win, Tennessee football is now in a great spot because of this one. Also, like that UGA win, which was the Josh Dobbs to Jauan Jennings game, this one left a lot for fans to want to look back on.
As a result, these images will be enjoyed for years to come. Tennessee football put on a show, and while it wasn’t a clean show like against the Ball State Cardinals, it was a show that people who follow them could enjoy. Maybe they’ll have a few more of those in the future under Heupel.
