Tennessee football: Five Akron Zips to watch for against Vols

Fellow receiver Daniel George, who has eight catches for 117 yards, just missed being on this list. Shocky Jacques-Louis, though, is Akron’s biggest weapon, and since Tennessee football doesn’t have a No. 1 cornerback, he could end up doing damage. That’s especially the case of D.J. Irons can slow the linebackers with the RPOs.
Jacques-Louis has 11 catches for 153 yards and a touchdown. That alone is the most yards from scrimmage on the team, beating out all running backs, and it makes sense. As a transfer from Pitt, Jacques-Louis brings experience in a Power Five offense and a system that focuses on having an explosive passing game.
Last year, the Vols held Jacques-Louis to one catch for six yards, but with less competition for options, he’ll obviously see a lot more targets in this game. As a result, he could obviously do a lot more damage, and where he came from suggests he has the ability to pose a huge mismatch for the Vols depending on who guards him.
As a result, Jacques-Louis is easily Akron’s best player and the biggest threat to Tennessee football. He was always a solid, effective receiver at Pitt. Ironically, Pitt receiver Konata Mumpfield transferred from Akron this past offseason, so they basically did a trade-off.
