6. Which team fumbles more?

Both of these teams have a huge problem here. Tennessee football has fumbled it six times on the season and lost three of them. To be fair, two of those lost fumbles came in garbage time in their opener against Ball State, as Justin Williams-Thomas lost one of them, and fourth-string quarterback Navy Shuler lost the other one.

However, Jaylen Wright has fumbled in back to back weeks, losing one of them, and Trevon Flowers muffed a punt last week. Then there was another fumble that was recovered against Ball State. Simply put, they haven’t been taking care of the ball at all.

At the same time, Akron’s no better. They’ve fumbled the ball seven times and lost four of them. This isn’t a key like the interceptions, where something’s got to give between each side. It’s actually a lot more simple. Who’s going to have a bigger issue holding onto the ball when these two face off Saturday?

Turnovers can be the great equalizer, and if an unfocused Tennessee football team is the one putting the ball on the ground, well, things may get a bit interesting. That would be shocking, but crazier things have happened, so the Vols have to be careful. Akron obviously has to be careful.
