Gambling odds according to WynnBET

  • Line: Florida -24
  • Over/Under: 60
  • Moneyline: Florida -2500; South Florida +1100

An intriguing in-state road matchup is back in The Swamp this year after the Florida Gators blew out the South Florida Bulls 42-20 last year. It’s the first easy matchup for Florida, which began the Billy Napier era with a brutal two-week stretch. Honestly, splitting those games, despite at home, is a positive on its own.

Florida comes into this game on the heels of a 26-16 loss to Kentucky that wasn’t even that close. That followed a huge season-opening win over the Utah Utes. Anyway, they are still No. 18 in the AP Poll and No. 21 in the Coaches Poll and get a tune-up game before Tennessee football.

USF, meanwhile, got blown out by BYU to open the season but scored a nice blowout win, albeit against the Howard Bison, last week. In their third season under Jeff Scott, they are trying to take that next step after going 1-8 in 2020 and 2-10 last year. A win at Florida would certainly go a long way towards that.

Prediction

Given the fact that they’ll be looking ahead to Tennessee football, Florid should struggle in this game. However, my take is that USF is just awful. As a result, even with sloppy play, a 24-point spread should be easy to cover. As a result, take Florida, the USF’s awful defense is why they’ll cover, so take the over.

Florida: 48 USF: 17 (Florida -24; Over 60)
