They have looked ugly, and all the Bryan Harsin drama still remains, but the Auburn Tigers are 2-0 and now have a chance to prove they are still a good program with a huge matchup at home this week. Who cares if they only beat the San Jose State Spartans 24-16? A win is a win, right?

Well, now Auburn is looking to get revenge against a Penn State Nittany Lions team they were within one possession of beating last year. Harsin looked like he was easily the best first-year head coach through half the season until Tennessee football’s Josh Heupel took that title down the stretch. Now, he is hanging on.

Meanwhile, Penn State comes in ranked No. 22 in the AP Poll and No. 23 in the Coaches Poll after holding off the Purdue Boilermakers and blowing out the Ohio Bobcats. If they can win here, they’ve got a chance to get to 5-0 before facing the Michigan Wolverines with the Central Michigan Chippewas and Northwestern Wildcats, both at home, as their next two games.

Prediction

This spread is only because the game’s in Auburn, and Penn State struggled with Purdue. However, Tennessee football fans know from last year how good this Purdue team is, and that was at Purdue. Auburn has some apathy given its situation, so home-field advantage is limited.

As a result, take Penn State to cover. Let’s call this our lock of the week. No way James Franklin’s team struggles with Auburn, and they’ll embarrass the SEC in the process. Also, take the under, as Auburn’s offense is absolutely awful. The Nittany Lions win by double-digits.

Penn State: 27 Auburn: 13 (Penn State -3; Under 47.5)
