Out of the blue, the Alabama Crimson Tide let everybody down and struggled with the Texas Longhorns last week. Could they all of a sudden be a winnable game for Tennessee football on Rocky Top? Okay, let’s not get carried away. This team owes no apologies for winning a game against a Power Five team on the road.
Anyway, the Tide are back home this week to face the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks, and never forget that they lost to this very program Nick Saban’s first year on the job. They dropped to No. 2 in the AP Poll and are still No. 1 in the Coaches Poll. After last week’s game, maybe they will struggle and look a bit ugly. It certainly makes you think on the spread.
On the other side, Louisiana-Monroe lost to Texas 52-10 the week before Alabama played them, but they did just blow out the Nicholls Colonels. They are trying to take that next step under veteran head coach Terry Bowden in his second season there, and playing this game close is a great chance for them to do just that.
Prediction
Every time Alabama looked questionable in a game last year, they returned the next week to torch whoever they were facing. That’s unfortunate for Louisiana-Monroe. The Tide will put on an offensive clinic in this one. Louisiana-Monroe’s offense and defense is bad, and that’s a problem here. Alabama absolutely obliterates them and hits the over by themselves.
Alabama: 65 Louisiana-Monroe: 0 (Alabama -49.5; Over 61.5)
