14-of-18 for 298 yards, 2 TDs; 2 carries for 24 yards

To be fair, Hendon Hooker actually missed a couple of throws for Tennessee football. He had a touchdown pass to Cedric Tillman that he missed for the third straight week, and honestly, one of his touchdown passes to Jalin Hyatt was a bit underthrown. Shockingly, Joe Milton III looked more accurate when he came in.

We have to give Milton a shoutout for going 4-of-5 for 112 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He threw the prettiest deep ball ever in a 57-yard touchdown to Ramel Keyton, and he also had an impressive 38-yard strike to Walker Merrill. Tayven Jackson came in and completed both of his attempts as well for 28 yards along with that touchdown run.

However, all of that was still in mop-up duty. We can’t ignore the fact that hooker did most of his work when it was a game, and despite a couple of inaccurate throws, you can’t ignore the state line. Completing 77.7 percent of your passes and averaging 16.6 yards an attempt is too impressive to overlook, even against Akron.

Also, Hooker had a 27-yard run. Now, he was sacked one time for a three-yard loss, but for the most part, his play was elite, and he moved into sole possession of seventh all time on the Vols’ career passing touchdowns list. Simply put, despite what the eye test says, Hooker still delivered.
