Defeated Youngstown State Penguins 31-0

Yes, Kentucky is the second best team in the SEC right now. It’s not just because of their 3-0 record. After all, Tennessee football’s resume is slightly more impressive when you consider the fact that they beat all FBS schools. What stands out with Kentucky is the level of dominance they’ve shown so far this year.

Kentucky’s defensive shutdown of the Youngstown State Penguins is relatively impressive since this is a great FCS program. Their blowout win over the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks is also looking more impressive since Miami gave Cincinnati a tough game last week. Then there’s what they did to Florida in between those games.

Now yes, Florida doesn’t look as good anymore, but at the end of the day, Kentucky is the first team we have named on here to beat a Power Five team that beat a Power Five team. Mark Stoops’ program is rolling, and it’s enough to keep them in this second spot from a week ago.

With Northern Illinois coming to town this week after losing to fellow SEC East foe Vanderbilt, they could fall just based on their opponent. Then they visit Ole Miss in another real test, though. Still, with South Carolina and Mississippi State at home after that, starting 6-1 should be the expectation for this team now.
