Tennessee football: Did Akron win help Vols at all in Week 3 SEC Power Rankings?
Defeated South Carolina Gamecocks 48-7
Nobody else in the SEC has two Power Five wins. Georgia has one at a neutral site (if you want to count Atlanta that) and one on the road, as they flat-out dominated South Carolina last week. Once again, Kirby Smart’s team looks invincible, and he appears to be reloading now the same way Nick Saban has been doing for years.
What makes Georgia look even better is what the Oregon Ducks did this past weekend. That team torched the BYU Cougars, so beating Oregon 49-3 in Atlanta looks even better and further cements their spot atop our SEC Power Rankings for now. They deserve to be No. 1 in the nation in both polls as well.
Remember when people thought at the beginning of the year that Tennessee football could potentially upset them? That looks impossible now. This team is dominant, and they have actually been tested. That’s the scary thing. Few tests are coming anytime soon, though.
Up next for UGA is a visit from the Kent State Golden Flashes. They then visit Missouri and host Auburn and Vanderbilt, so 7-0 is all but a lock before they face Florida at the end of October and then Tennessee football to kick off November.
