6. Tony Vitello

It’s crazy when you’ve got a star football coach and star men’s and women’s basketball coaches, but the head coach who has the biggest personality and generates the most publicity is your baseball coach. Such is the case with Tony Vitello, who has turned Tennessee baseball into as hot a commodity as any sport on campus outside of football.

Although he didn’t get to the College World Series this year despite his team being No. 1 almost the whole season, Vitello made splash after splash. He has the baseball program staying on top too, and his sarcasm with the Mike Honcho reference and willingness to back his players while angering the national media has Rocky Top adoring him.

Vitello is turning into the Steve Spurrier of baseball, and that’s fitting since Tennessee football is playing Florida this week. As a result, of all the coaches who could potentially come onto the show, Vitello would be the best one. He’d bring so much flare and entertainment to the seen.

Of course, Spurrier was on College GameDay with Phillip Fulmer the last time the crew was in Knoxville, so that’s another reason to put Vitello on given the comparisons he draws. Few people affiliated with the university right now are able to generate as much excitement.
