5. Candace Parker

It’s always good to have transcendent stars from Rocky Top representing them on a big stage, and Candace Parker is one of those stars. She fits the Lady Vol criteria that Kellie Harper also fits. A two-time national champion who can be part of celebrating the 50th anniversary of Title IX, Parker brings a lot to the table representing the university.

More importantly, she’s very relevant right now. Although she didn’t win a second straight national title, Parker has been on a legendary run since Tennessee football last hosted GameDay and beat Florida. That started with leading the Los Angeles Sparks to the WNBA Championship and winning WNBA Finals MVP in 2016.

Since then, Parker has also won WNBA Defensive Player of the Year and a second championship with her hometown the Chicago Sky. Earlier this month, she tied another Lady Vols legend, Tamika Catchings, for the most playof double-doubles in WNBA history with 27.

Add in the tremendous job she does helping the CBS Sports crew during the NCAA Tournament, and Parker is a star through and through representing Rocky Top. She’s so good at analysis that she would do a great job on College GameDay, so why not bring her on board?
