4. Bianca Belair

Professional wrestling has a decent history of people with ties to Tennessee football. Glenn Jacobs is the current mayor of Knoxville. Randy Orton is from Knoxville. Kevin Nash played basketball for the Vols in the 1980s. Many believe John Cena to be a Vol fan. However, the most relevant wrestling star right now with UT ties is Bianca Belair.

Currently, Belair is the reigning No. 1 ranked female wrestler in the PWI Women’s 150. She was the No. 3 ranked wrestler of the year in 2021 on Sports Illustrated, male or female. A winner of the 2021 Royal Rumble, a one-time SmackDown Women’s Champion and the current Raw WWE Women’s Champion, you can’t get much more relevant than Belair.

Also, no wrestler has deeper UT ties than she does. Belair was born in Knoxville and, despite first joining the South Carolina Gamecocks and then Texas A&M Aggies, finished her track and field college career with the Vols, where she earned All-SEC and All-American honors.

As a result, Belair is another star athlete from Rocky Top. When GameDay was in Memphis in 2019, they brought on Jerry “The King” Lawler. This time, they should bring on Belair. WWE is the second-biggest sport in the nation, and Belair is one of its biggest stars. Her UT ties are deep too.
