Tennessee football vs. Florida: Prediction and odds for Week 4 college football
Not only is Tennessee football 3-0 getting set to face the Florida Gators this weekend. The Vols have also beaten the spread all three weeks, although it’s a bit of luck with the Pittsburgh Panthers, as they still needed overtime to do it.
Still, coming off a 63-6 win over the Akron Zips, they have their most daunting spread yet. As ESPN College GameDay comes to town, UT is a two-score favorite over Florida, a team that has won five straight over them and 16 of 17 dating back to 2005.
Despite a huge win to open the year against the Utah Utes, Florida has stumbled since then, losing to the Kentucky Wildcats at home and then just barely beating the South Florida Bulls. This 3:30 p.m. ET CBS kickoff is their first true road test of the season.
Tennessee Volunteers vs. Florida Gators odds Week 4
According to WynnBET, Tennessee football enters this game a shocking 10.5-point favorite. Dating back to 1997 and probably 1990, the spread has never been that high in favor of the Vols in this series dating. The over/under is set at 62.5, but the moneyline has the Vols at -380 and Florida at +300. UT is a solid favorite.
Tennessee Volunteers vs. Florida Gators prediction
Ranked No. 11 in the AP Poll and No. 12 in the Coaches Poll, the Vols have given fans every reason to believe in them as they face Florida this week. Josh Heupel’s system is rolling, and Hendon Hooker is quietly launching a Heisman campaign through the first three games of the season.
Florida, though, is still ranked No. 20 in the AP Poll and No. 22 in the Coaches Poll, and the one team to beat them, Kentucky, is No. 8 in the AP Poll and No. 9 in the Coaches Poll. Utah is still No. 13 in the AP Poll and No. 14 in the Coaches Poll as well.
What you’re mostly seeing from Florida is growing pains in Billy Napier’s first year and a lack of depth. That doesn’t mean they can’t go all out and upset a team like Tennessee football. This is the first game they are underdogs since the game they won. Remember that.
As for what happens on the field, well, Florida’s pass defense is actually pretty good, and they can give Hooker some trouble. Even if their rush defense is an issue, the Vols, despite relying on it to get the offense going, haven’t been very effective with it so far this year.
Taking that into account, UT won’t be able to get its offense going the way it wants. However, Florida has limitations too given Anthony Richardson’s current situation. This makes the Under 62.5 the best prediction. It’ll be a bit more of a slugfest, similar to Pitt.
Because the game will be lower scoring, Tennessee football will not cover. Take Florida +10.5, as they will keep it close for a lot longer than the Vols want. UT will still hold on for the victory, though, so take them on the Moneyline -380. The score will look something like this: Tennessee: 31 Florida: 24.
