Tennessee football: Five key Florida Gators to watch for against Vols
One of the things Billy Napier did to help ease the transition for the Florida Gators this year was bring some of his former stars with the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns with them and insert them right into the starting lineup. There are still some inconsistencies, but that still makes them dangerous against Tennessee football Saturday.
Of course, Florida is always dangerous for the Vols. No matter the differences between the teams, it’s written that Florida is always supposed to win. As a result, despite their roller coaster the first three games of the season, the ups are all likely to emerge for Florida Saturday.
If the Vols are to keep that from happening, they have to make sure some of those transfers don’t have a huge game. Beyond that, though, there are some veterans on the team who have plenty of experience beating Tennessee football. UT must key on them too. Here are the five Gators to watch for Saturday against the Vols.
These UF players will have a big impact on what happens against the Tennessee football Volunteers in their SEC opener Saturday.

We know about Hendon Hooker’s improvement in the pocket this year, and that’s not to be dismissed. However, that doesn’t mean there still aren’t issues from last year in terms of his pocket presence, and the Florida outside linebackers could easily exploit that. As a result, UT needs to keep an eye on the more than anybody.
Brenton Cox Jr. is the star edge rusher, as he was preseason All-SEC, but he’s been relatively quiet through three games. As a result, one of the true linebackers who has stood out more, Amari Burney will be the major factor. Burney is fourth on the team in tackles with 16 and third in solo tackles with 10.
Also, Burney has managed to make plays in multiple ways this year. He already has a sack, and interception and a pass deflection. Tennessee football will have to watch for him at all times because if anybody can give Hooker fits in the backfield, Burney is that guy.
