  • Moneyline: Alabama -100000; Vanderbilt +5000

So Alabama finally gets an SEC team, and they play Vanderbilt. However, this Vanderbilt team is generating a lot of hype. Their only loss on the year is to a Wake Forest team that we have beating Clemson this week, and Clark Lea’s program is significantly better than it was last year.

Beating Northern Illinois on the road last year was huge. This team now has more wins than last year, and all of them are by double-digits. Both of their wins in 2021 were within a field goal. Simply put, this team has some confidence now, and it’s perfect timing for them as they get set to visit Nick Saban and Alabama before they and Tennessee football go on their bye week.

After struggling to put away the Texas Longhorns, Alabama, ranked No. 2 in both polls, rebounded with a dominant win over the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. They covered thanks to an excellent second half, and now they have to focus on who many believe to be the worst team in the SEC. Key is not looking ahead, as they visit Arkansas next week.

Prediction

That issue of not looking ahead is why you have to question if Alabama can cover in this one. The answer is yes, they can. Vanderbilt has no defense to speak of, so Bama will stumble its way to at least eight touchdowns. Meanwhile, Vandy will score one somewhere with its solid offense, so the over is the best play here. Take Alabama to cover in a blowout too.

Alabama: 56 Vanderbilt: 7 (Alabama -40.5; Over 59)
