Gambling odds according to WynnBET

  • Line: Mississippi State -29.5
  • Over/Under: 52.5
  • Moneyline: Mississippi State -50000; Bowling +2500

In typical Mike Leach fashion, reality set in just as the Mississippi State Bulldogs were riding high last week, and they lost 31-16 on the road to the LSU Tigers. However, that’s nothing to be ashamed of. LSU is a few special teams miscues away from being undefeated, and most would still have Tennessee football losing to them in two weeks.

Anyway, coming off that loss, Mississippi State returns home for a noon matchup with a Bowling Green Falcons team that finally got its first win last week, beating the Marshall Thundering Herd 34-31 in overtime. The week before, though, they lost to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels, an FCS team in overtime.

Scot Loeffler is still trying to have his first successful season with Bowling Green, and his seat is extremely hot. Facing a Mississippi State team that has clearly figured it out offensively against lesser defenses is not a game he wants to play given the situation he’s in.

Predicion

Although there will be a hangover from LSU and a lot of thoughts about next week’s matchup with the Texas A&M Aggies, Mississippi State is still too loaded. Take the Bulldogs to cover easily. Bowling Green, as Tennessee football found out last year, is awful. The offense for MSU will hum again, and that’ll be enough for this game to hit the over.

Mississippi State: 52 Bowling Green: 17 (Mississippi State -30; Over 52.5)
