Welcome to our one non-SEC game, and this is relevant to Tennessee football. Former Vol offensive coordinator Dave Clawson has the Wake Forest Demon Deacons rolling once again at No. 21 in the AP Poll and No. 16 in the Coaches Poll. Meanwhile, the Vols could benefit if the Clemson Tigers as a program keep sliding under Dabo Swinney.

Enter this game where Vol fans would love nothing more than to see Clemson go down again. The Tigers are No. 5 in both polls and have blown out all three opponents, most recently the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, in hopes of proving last year was a fluke. This may be their only chance at a signature win on the year, so they can’t afford to fall.

Wake Forest, meanwhile, is coming off a thrilling 37-36 win over the Liberty Flames, but they haven’t missed a beat from last year. A win over Clemson would be a huge step forward for the program, and you have to think last week’s struggles were about looking ahead to this one.

Prediction

If the Demon Deacons are to pull off the upset, they need to make this a shootout, as Clemson’s offense is a bit of a question. Against a defense that is great but hasn’t yet been tested, they can do just that. So yes, we’re going with the huge upset in this one.

Clawson will air it out all over the field, and Wake will get a huge lead early in the process. Eventually, Clemson will settle in, and they’ll make a furious comeback, but it’ll be just a bit too late. As a result, the Demon Deacons pull off the upset, and the game hits the over.

Wake Forest: 38 Clemson: 34 (Wake Forest +7; Over 56)
