One of the most interesting September games in the SEC every year had actually taken the momentum away from Tennessee football and Florida for a while. That’s not the case this year, although just like that game, it’s a battle of two top 25 teams where one team has a loss.
The Arkansas Razorbacks come into their first game away from home having survived their former coach, Bobby Petrino, and the Missouri State Bears last week, winning 38-27. They have impressive wins outside of that, though, beating the South Carolina Gamecocks and Cincinnati Bengals. Ranked No. 10 in both polls, a win here gives them top five credibiliity.
Meanwhile, Jimbo Fisher and the Texas A&M Aggies bounced back from their loss to the Appalachian State Mountaineers to win an ugly game against the Miami Hurricanes. The quarterback change didn’t help, but they’ve still got a good defense, and ranked No. 23 in the AP Poll and No. 20 in the Coaches Poll, that could help them here.
Prediction
Wouldn’t it be something if A&M pulled off two top 25 wins after losing to Appalachian State? That’s certainly the best way to show this wasn’t a fluke, and they are favored in this one. However, the Miami game showed it was actually less of a fluke despite their win.
Miami played way better in that game but just made too many mistakes. Sam Pittman’s team won’t make the same errors. As a result, they’ll control the game, and A&M’s offense won’t get going at all. That’ll result in Arkansas pulling off the win, and the game hits the under.
Arkansas: 21 Texas A&M: 13 (Arkansas +2; Under 48.5)
