Finally, Shane Beamer’s team gets a break. After losing to two top 10 teams the past two weeks, they return to Group of Five play with another opponent from a state on the Atlantic Coast. This time, they welcome the Charlotte 49ers to town and will look to get back to .500.

South Carolina isn’t a bad team. Spencer Rattler can still be effective. Everybody is going to get blown out by Georgia, and they weren’t as bad as they looked against Arkansas. This team could still get better as the year goes on, and make no mistake, they’ll be a tough out for Tennessee football when the two face off in November.

Charlotte comes in under fourth-year head coach Will Healy still looking for its first winning season since 2019. They just beat the Georgia State Panthers, the team South Carolina beat at the beginning of the year, but are 1-3 after being blown out their first three games.

Prediction

Georgia State lost to South Carolina by 21 and Charlotte by one, suggesting that Charlotte can stay within the 22.5-point spread. However, South Carolina is better for those two Power Five games. As a result, playing at home, they’ll dominate and cover. There will be some scoring, but 66 is too high, so take the under.
