Tennessee football: Five last-minute predictions vs. Florida
1. Ramel Keyton or Bru McCoy will catch a touchdown pass
Not having Cedric Tillman will cause Hendon Hooker to throw an interception. It will also spell trouble for Tennessee football as the Vols search for a playmaker when the game is tight, and there will be moments in which that is the case. However, other players have proven they can step up, and they will in this game.
Just like Tillman, Bru McCoy’s one touchdown reception came in that key overtime win at Pitt. He has eight catches for 109 yards and a score and is certainly the most talented of the rest of the wideouts. Ramel Keyton, though, has five catches for 114 yards and a score.
Although most of Keyton’s numbers are in garbage time, he has more experience in the system. He was also reportedly taking the No. 1 wideout reps in Tillman’s absence this week, meaning Hendon Hooker and Josh Heupel are likely to be looking his way a lot more.
Still, one of them is bound to score a touchdown. Florida has struggled defending big targets all year, and they play an aggressive press coverage. Tennessee football will exploit that with their wideouts at least one, maybe twice, and with Tillman out, that means Keyton or McCoy catches his second touchdown pass of the season.
