Defeated Tulsa Golden Hurricane 35-27

If they weren’t undefeated, the Ole Miss Rebels would be out of the top five. They had no business struggling to beat the Tulsa Golden Hurricane like this, and when you consider the fact that the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets just fired their coach and that’s this team’s only Power Five win.

Once again, all the preseason shots Lane Kiffin took at Tennessee football look funny. It gives off the vibe that he didn’t get his team focused enough to move on from Matt Corral. Sure, that’s probably not the case, but Ole Miss has been underwhelming in both games against Group of Five foes so far this year.

Also, as we already alluded to, GT barely counts as a Power Five win. Taking all of this into account, they are the lowest of the undefeated teams in our SEC Power Rankings. They are also the one team to have not yet played an SEC game, so they really are here by default right now.

Vanderbilt and Auburn are two of the next three games, so Ole Miss is going to continue to stay relevant, but they are outside of the top 10 right now. Key to that will be this week, as they have a matchup at home against another SEC foe who is in the top 10 and just so happens to be the next team on our list.
