Lost to Auburn Tigers 17-14 (OT)

Talk about a brutal way to lose. The Missouri Tigers missed a dead-center chip shot field goal at the end of regulation. Then, after securing a 1st and goal from the one down three, Nathaniel Peat inexplicably reached for the end zone to try to get more and fumbled. The Auburn Tigers recovered and won the game.

Mizzou should’ve won in every way, but they lost, so that keeps them just below Auburn in our SEC Power Rankings. Show no sympathy to Peat or their kicker, Harrison Mevis, either. These kids now make NIL money on top of their free scholarship, and they should do their jobs. Mevis’ job isn’t to hit every field goal, but he should always hit dead-center 26-yarders.

Peat, meanwhile, should never be so risky trying to get the score right there. Now, Eli Drinkwitz’s seat is as hot as it can be, and it may not let up. Mizzou is considered a circled win on Tennessee football’s schedule for a reason and not just because the Vols blew them out last year.

With Georgia and a trip to Florida coming up, it’s about to be evident why they needed that win. Honestly, they will visit Vanderbilt in a game where we may not be sure who pulls it out. This could be a program on the verge of collapse, and last week’s game may have started it.
