If Tennessee football truly was a stock exchange and consumer confidence in the market was based on fan morale, there would be a ton of buying right now. With the Vols going on a bye week, that would make sense, as it’ll take at least two weeks for anything exciting about the program to come crashing down to reality.

However, as it should be with investors in the real market, our stock report surrounding the Vols is about the overall futures of the program and the viability of different parts of this for this year. Beating the Florida Gators for Rocky Top is like a giant stimulus package.

Add in a 4-0 record and their first top 10 ranking since 2016, and the Vols are looking pretty good right now to anybody following them. Is it all legitimate, though? What should we believe about all of this. Let’s take a look at that now in our stock report for Tennessee football following that huge win, starting with the overall health of the program.

This is a look at what’s hot in the Tennessee football Volunteers’ market following Week 4 of 2022.

Overall stock report: High and rising

Yes, the Vols are legit. Say what you want about how they have struggled to pull out victories, they still showed key mental toughness in their two wins over Power Five teams. You may be concerned about the way they almost blew it against the Florida Gators and made a ton of mistakes late at the Pittsburgh Panthers.

The fact is they overcame those issues to win both, and with a bye week, they likely have time to improve upon those issues. At the end of the day, UT has two wins over Power Five teams, both of whom were in the top 20 when they faced them, one of which was on the road.

One of those teams’ only loss is to the Vols. The other just lost to the Vols and another Power Five team, the Kentucky Wildcats, currently in the top 10. Meanwhile, every team Rocky Top has beaten is an FBS program. Step back and look at that resume, and it’s safe to say that for now, Tennessee football as a whole is a good buy.
