Tennessee football stock report after Week 4 of 2022
Stock up
Hendon Hooker’s Heisman campaign
He just gained over 450 yards of total offense and three total touchdowns, and the vast majority of that damage was done after an upper-body injury. At this point, it’s safe to assume Tennessee football’s signal-caller is firmly in the Heisman race, and anybody not including them shouldn’t be taken seriously as an analyst.
With a ton of marquee games coming up, Hooker will have plenty more chances to prove himself. If the vote were today, C.J. Stroud would probably be the winner, but Hooker might be second. He’s been that elite. Add in the fact that he has no interceptions, and the hype train for Hooker is real.
Depth at skill positions
Cedric Tillman missing last week’s game was another feather in the cap for Hooker’s Heisman campaign, but it also showed he depth at the skill positions. Bru McCoy stepped up with over 100 yards receiving and a touchdown. Jalin Hyatt had over 50 yards receiving, and Ramel Keyton had over 60 yards receiving along with a diving catch.
The tight ends combined for over 90 yards last weekend, and Jabari Small stepped up with 32 yards receiving along with 90 yards running while he and Jaylen Wright had touchdown runs. Simply put, UT is deep with skill players, and that showed without Tillman against Florida.
