Tennessee football Week 3 NFL recap: One veteran is still a star
Stars of the week
Cordarrelle Patterson – RB – Atlanta Falcons
It’s his first year really as a full-time running back after spending nine as a receiver and a return specialist, and once again, Cordarrelle Patterson proves he can play any skill position on offense. Patterson had 17 carries for 141 yards and caught a 12-yard pass as the Atlanta Falcons beat the Seattle Seahawks 27-23 over the weekend.
This is Patterson’s second time in three weeks going over 100 yards as a running back, and he also found the end zone. Shockingly, he might be Tennessee football’s best weapon in the pros right now, and he’s doing it in his 10th year. That’s crazy.
Darrell Taylor – DE – Seattle Seahawks
While Patterson is the veteran who is proving he’s still got it, Darrell Taylor is the edge rusher trying to have his breakout game to validate Pete Carroll and the Seahawks taking him in the second round in 2020. He missed that whole year due to injury and was a developmental player last year while trying to get healthy.
As a result, he was supposed to break out this year, and it still hasn’t happened. However, Taylor showed his effectiveness in the pass rush, ironically as Seattle fell to 1-2 by losing to against Patterson and Atlanta, as he had three tackles for a loss and a strip-sack. It appears as if his minutes are about to somewhat decrease, but he’s proving to be a great situational pass rusher.
