  • Moneyline: LSU -310; Auburn +250

This is the exact break Tennessee football wants. The Vols are on a bye, and LSU has to travel to face another SEC West foe the week before facing them. Saturday’s all-Tigers matchup between Auburn and LSU appears to feature two programs going in dramatically different directions.

After a loss to Florida State to open the season that they should have won, LSU is on a roll under Brian Kelly. That blowout win over the Southern Jaguars was a sign of what was to come, and they scored a huge victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs two Saturdays ago. Now, they resume SEC play, and a road win here could put them in the top 25.

Auburn, meanwhile, is hanging by a thread under Bryan Harsin. They scored the luckiest victory ever last week at the Missouri Tigers, but if they can overcome that with a win against LSU at home on Saturday, they’ll be right back in the thick of things. This feels like another game Harsin needs to keep his job.

Prediction

Auburn is awful. Barely beating Mizzou means nothing. LSU will absolutely blow them out. The cover here may be the easiest call of the weekend, and they’ll be riding high against Tennessee football next Saturday. As for the over/under, that depends on if Auburn can score enough. They will, but it’ll be similar to their loss to the Penn State Nittany Lions.

LSU: 45 Auburn: 17 (LSU -8; Under 46)
