While the cornerbacks for Tennessee football may be struggling severely, the cornerbacks in the NFL who once played for the Vols are thriving. One was an undrafted free agent who became a regular contributor immediately, but another was drafted a year earlier and even higher. He has had a breakout season this year.

Of course, it wasn’t the same story for running backs. One was the Vols’ biggest star entering the pros before this year, and another was the Vols’ biggest star through three weeks. Now both have issues, which could make them irrelevant for at leas the next few weeks.

As usual, our breakdown of former Vols in the NFL includes stars, players who saw significant action, players who saw limited action, players who didn’t play and those on injured reserve. For Tennessee football’s Week 4 NFL performance, we’ll start with the injuries.

Players who got hurt Sunday

Cordarrelle Patterson – RB – Atlanta Falcons

Through three weeks, Cordarrelle Patterson was the Vols’ biggest star, and he looked on track to be that again Sunday as he had nine carries for 38 yards and a touchdown as the Atlanta Falcons beat the Cleveland Browns 23-20. However, he missed the second half due to a knee injury entering the game and is now on injured reserve, so he will also miss the next four weeks.

Justin Coleman – DB – Seattle Seahawks

Early on in the season, Justin Coleman has been battling a calf injury. He was doubtful against the Detroit Lions and didn’t play as the Seattle Seahawks won 48-45.
