Tennessee football falls after not playing in Week 5 SEC Power Rankings
Defeated Arkansas Razorbacks 49-26
Just like that, order is restored. They may have lost their starting quarterback, but Alabama reeled off three touchdowns in the second half with their backup against Arkansas last Saturday when leading just 28-23. Nick Saban’s team remains dominant and did enough with that blowout win to move back atop our SEC Power Rankings.
Of course, that is what could potentially set the stage for an epic showdown between Tennessee football and Alabama in a week, but they both have to win Saturday. We’ll have more on that in a minute. First, with Alabama, they have two road wins, and although Arkansas and the Texas Longhorns are questionable, you can’t take that away.
This team has three Power Five wins overall, even if you want to say Vanderbilt doesn’t count. Most importantly, they proved they can win on the road, as they have struggled in those environments ever since Bryce Young took over at quarterback. How they now do with him banged up remains to be seen.
Either way, they should be fine. This week, they should blow out Texas A&M at home. Then they will visit Tennessee football before hosting Mississippi State. At least two of those games should be intriguing, so watch out. Maybe Alabama games are going to be worth watching once again.
