Tennessee football falls after not playing in Week 5 SEC Power Rankings
Defeated South Carolina State Bulldogs 50-10
We could have made the case to put the South Carolina Gamecocks below Vanderbilt. Fans are down on them. However, that’s a bit weird since they have done exactly what they were expected to do through five games in terms of record and have scored 50 points back to back. What more do you want from this program right now?
Well, with Shane Beamer’s team hitting pars, all they need is just one Power Five win to move further up this list. What’s hurting them is that the Arkansas Razorbacks, who beat them, don’t look as good now, and they got blown out by Georgia, who isn’t blowing out anybody.
Still, seven or eight wins is on the table, and Tennessee football can’t circle this one either since the Vols visit them and it will be their seventh straight game without a bye. They have scored 50 points twice and are above .500 with Spencer Rattler struggling at quarterback.
Now, the real tests begin. Up next for the Gamecocks is a trip to the Kentucky Wildcats. Then they have a bye week before a visit from the Texas A&M Aggies. Still, after that, they also get to face the two teams in our SEC Power Rankings who still haven’t beaten a Power Five foe in Vanderbilt and the next team on our list.
