8. Elite red zone offense of Vols vs. elite red zone defense of LSU

You’re not going to see better red zone play than when Tennessee football’s offense is in the red zone, and it’ll be on both sides. The Vols have been highly effective in the red zone, and LSU’s defense is elite in the same way, which definitely makes this interesting.

UT has scored on all 22 trips to the red zone this year. They are one of just six teams left with a 100 percent success rate, and among those six teams, only the Clemson Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes got down there more. The Vols have reached the end zone 19 of those 22 times, or 86.36 percent of the time, good for sixth in the nation.

On the other side, LSU has only allowed teams to score seven of 11 times, or just over 63 percent of the time, on defense, and they have allowed touchdowns only four times, or 36.36 percent of the time. Both are good for No. 6 in the nation.

Now, Tennessee football plays equalizer here, as they are No. 16 and No. 7 in red zone scoring defense and red zone touchdown defense. LSU is top 50 in red zone offense and top 30 in red zone touchdowns, so they can equalize it a bit too, but the real story will be what happens when the Vols’ offense reaches LSU territory.
