We’ve had a pretty good read on the Mississippi State Bulldogs this year. However, we’ve been dead wrong on the Arkansas Razorbacks. That makes this an intriguing pick, and given the line, it’s a difficult one to pick as well. However, it could have huge implications in the SEC.

If you know anything about Mike Leach’s teams, you know that just when they are looking as elite as ever, they lay an egg. Coming off a blowout win over the Texas A&M Aggies, getting to No. 23 in both polls and then hosting a team on a two-game losing streak is just that type of game. If they can avoid it, though, they’re looking at a potential top 15 ranking.

On the other side, Arkansas was always going to lose to Alabama last week, but allowing a back door cover after only trailing 28-23 and knocking out Bryce Young was brutal. That follows a game against Texas A&M they should’ve won, making this matchup crucial for them.

Prediction

It’s a battle of Tennessee football connections, as the Vols almost hired Leach in 2017 and had Sam Pittman on staff in 2012. Kendal Briles’ offense will run it all over MSU and control the clock. That’ll help this game hit the under. However, MSU will hit some big shots against Arkansas’s poor pass defense. It’ll be enough to win, but they won’t cover.
