Here we are with another non-conference top 25 matchup and another head coach who is succeeding after his name was tied to Tennessee football in 2017. Don’t look now, but the Pac-12 has had quite a few interesting games up to this point, and this is another one.
Chip Kelly has the UCLA Bruins rolling right now, at No. 18 in the AP Poll and No. 19 in the Coaches Poll. Last week’s win at the Washington Huskies was highly impressive and earned them this spot in the top 25. Could they be on a collision course with the USC Trojans in a rivalry restored just before the two join the Big Ten?
Well, to do that, they have to get past the Utah Utes. After losing their season opener at Florida, Kyle Whittingham’s team has quietly won four straight to get back up to No. 11 in both polls. However, there are questions surrounding the teams they have beaten, so this is their first chance at a quality win.
Prediction
UCLA has a way better resume than Utah and is playing at home. As a result, the Bruins will turn it on and prove everybody wrong about having Utah as the favorite. Don’t just take them to cover. Take them outright. However, Whittingham’s offense slows the game down just enough for this one to hit the under.
UCLA: 34 Utah: 27 (UCLA +3.5; Under 65.5)
