No team is less deserving of a 5-0 record than the Ole Miss Rebels, but by hook or crook, they scored the luckiest victory in history last week. Now, former Tennessee football head coach Lane Kiffin gets to face the punching bag of the SEC, one that has sadly been more competitive with Tennessee football than the Vols have with their own rivals the past decade.

Anyway, Ole Miss comes in here ranked No. 9 in both polls, but like UT, this is somewhat of a rivalry game. As a result, with them playing on the road, they can’t take this too lightly. Anything can happen in these type of matchups, and they made lots of mistakes last week.

This isn’t your grandfather’s Vanderbilt. Clark Lea is building a program in Nashville, and they now just had a bye to get ready for this game. They have already surpassed what they did last year and could accomplish more, but a win here would take it to another stratosphere.

Prediction

This Ole Miss team seems to have winning ugly as its mantra. Facing a team with a good coach coming off a bye only makes them more vulnerable to playing ugly, particularly since they’re on the road. As a result, while the Rebels win, they don’t cover. That’ll be because Vanderbilt scores at will, which is why this hits the over. Ole Miss will have to keep up, though.

Ole Miss: 41 Vanderbilt: 31 (Vanderbilt +17.5; Over 61)
