Tennessee football moves back up SEC Power Rankings with win at LSU
Lost to Florida Gators 24-17
How do you evaluate Mizzou under Eli Drinkwitz? They have been underachieving ever since that blowout loss to Tennessee football last year, but just like the games leading up to that one, the games this year have all been close. Missouri could easily be 5-1 right now with their only loss coming to the Kansas State Wildcats.
However, they missed a chip shot field goal and had a wild fumble to lose to the Auburn Tigers in overtime. Then they blew a 22-12 fourth-quarter lead to Georgia, largely thanks to the refs missing a clear false start on a UGA fourth down conversion. Last week, a red zone interception was the difference.
Playing all of these games close is what keeps them ahead of Vanderbilt in our SEC Power Rankings. However, the same way undefeated teams automatically belong at the top, we have to put teams who are winless in Power Five games at the bottom. That is Mizzou.
Finally, they get a much-needed bye before hosting Vanderbilt. Then they visit South Carolina and host Kentucky, three winnable games, so they have a chance to right the ship, but what has to be so heartbreaking for them is they should at least be 4-2 right now.
