Tennessee football moves back up SEC Power Rankings with win at LSU

Lost to Georgia Bulldogs 42-10

Here’s the only place where head-to-head is somewhat of a factor. Auburn beat Missouri. Since they just got blown out by Georgia a week after Mizzou played UGA close, that could have been ignored. However, again, the no-Power Five win is an automatic knock on Mizzou, even though Auburn’s Power Five win is that win over Mizzou.

Anyway, none of this changes the fact that Bryan Harsin’s team is a complete disaster right now. They should easily be 2-4, and it probably won’t be long before Harsin is gone. You can’t really dismiss getting blown out by Georgia given the fact that Georgia looked a lot worse the previous two weeks, including against the Kent State Golden Flashes.

It’s probably only a matter of time before Auburn falls in our SEC Power Rankings. This time last year, Harsin was the best first-year head coach in the league. Clearly, at this point, Tennessee football head coach Josh Heupel has surpassed him when it comes to 2021 hires.

Now is when the bottom falls out. Up next for Auburn is a trip to Ole Miss, which will likely be a blowout loss. They at least get a bye before returning home to face the Arkansas Razorbacks, but then they visit the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and the Alabama Crimson Tide are still on their schedule. This team is in trouble.
